Bould tips Gervinho to try to match Arsenal legend Henry

The 25-year-old forward has enjoyed a good start to the new campaign and continued his rich vein of form with another goalscoring performance in the Champions League
Arsenal assistant manager Steve Bould has urged Gervinho to maintain his recent goalscoring exploits at the club, comparing him to Thierry Henry in the process.

The Ivorian suffered a difficult first year in England, during which the former Lille winger struggled to produce a consistent end product and ended the season with just four goals to his name.

However, he has already beaten that tally this term, with his fifth goal coming against Olympiakos, and Bould has tipped him to keep up his form.

"He's scoring goals. His confidence is sky-high and his link play is improving," Bould told reporters.

"He's set up Santi [Cazorla] a few times over the last few games and he's a danger with his pace and movement.

"If he gets anywhere near Thierry Henry we'll take that all day long."

The 49-year-old former defender also reserved words of praise for Gervinho's attacking team-mate and new signing Lukas Podolski who continued his great start to life at the club with his fourth goal of the season.

Bould added: "He’s a fantastic finisher. He really is deadly and long may that continue."

The Gunners made it two wins out of two to go top of their Champions League group after a nervy 3-1 victory over the Greek champions at home last night, and face Schalke up next in their group.
