The 30-year-old striker netted twice as the Saints got off the mark in the Premier League, coming from a goal down to beat Aston Villa 4-1 at St Mary's StadiumRickie Lambert is "made up" after firing Southampton to a 4-1 win over Aston Villa at St Mary’s, their first league win of the season.
The 30-year-old’s 58th minute strike kick-started a stunning comeback for the Saints after Darren Bent had given the Villans a half-time lead.
Lambert admitted his side’s campaign has been a disappointment so far, with their win over the Midlands side gifting them their first points of the campaign.
"Everyone knows who we've been playing," he told Sky Sports, discussing the Saints’ last two top-flight games against giants Manchester United and Arsenal.
"We're disappointed we didn't have at least three points but we weren't that far behind from where we thought we were going to be.
"We're just obviously made up we got off the mark today."
