Scholes believes added competition can fire Manchester United to title
The Red Devils' midfielder is certain that the club's new signings can enable the side to compete on multiple fronts, offering much needed depth to the squad
Paul Scholes believes Manchester United could field two teams capable of winning the Premier League, such is the Red Devils’ strength in depth. The midfield veteran is delighted with United’s summer signings – Robin van Persie, Shinji Kagawa, Nick Powell and Alexander Buttner – and hopes the competition they provide can help regain the title.
“You always like to see new players come in even if they’re in your position because it’s healthy for the team and exciting to play with the new players,” Scholes told the club’s official website.

“It all looks very healthy and, as players, we know when we get given our chance we have to take it. If you don’t, you’ll be out of the team, simple as that.”
Scholes also claimed that all the new signings were settling in well, and was particularly glowing in his praise of 23-year old Japanese playmaker Kagawa, who scored his first goal for the club against Fulham.
“All the new signings have settled in well. Shinji [Kagawa] has been with us since the start of pre-season so he’s had a good amount of time to settle in,” Scholes added.
“He’s a top class player who did great in Germany and we’re lucky to have him.”
