Villas-Boas confirms Tottenham's interest in Adebayor

The Spurs manager has revealed that signing the 28-year-old striker on a permanent basis is one of many options he is looking at to strengthen his squad
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that he is interested in signing Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The 28-year-old scored 17 goals in 33 league appearances for the north London club during a season-long loan spell last term and, as revealed last week, talks are ongoing over a £5 million permanent move

The recently appointed Portuguese boss has now made public his desire to add a striker to his squad and has admitted that the Togolese forward is amongst his targets.

“It would be a lie if I tell you we are not looking for a striker,” Villas-Boas told reporters.

“And of course Ade is part of that list. We are extremely willing to have Adebayor on board with us.”

The 34-year-old also went on to praise the way Spurs do business under the stewardship of his new chairman Daniel Levy.

“We are onto the market to try and finish the squad,” he continued.

“The squad at this moment has some fragilities, particularly on the striker positions.

“I think this football club is also famous for being very precise on the market and doing the right business and that's what we want to do.”
