King: Redknapp is not to blame for Tottenham's late-season slump
The Spurs skipper has insisted that the 65-year-old should not be blamed for their loss of form which occurred when the manager was being linked with the then-vacant England job
Tottenham defender Ledley King has insisted Harry Redknapp was not to blame for his side’s late-season slump in the Premier League.
Spurs slipped from being title contenders to fighting for a place in the top four as a poor run of results coincided with Redknapp being heavily linked with the then-vacant England manager's job. However, the White Hart Lane skipper has insisted that the team were not affected by speculation surrounding their boss.
"I just think the Premier League is a tough league, and you're going to have some sticky spells," he told London24.
"We went on a run of losing games, but we could quite easily have won them.
"We could have got points out of those games but at that moment in time things were going against us.
"It seemed like we were winning again once everything was settled with the England manager situation, but it's a coincidence."I just think it was one of those things. It was a tough period - a little bit of a lack of confidence, but once we got that back we were back on a good run again."
