'Surely we will stick to an Englishman as our next manager' - Joey Barton, Jack Wilshere, Michael Owen & more react to Fabio Capello's resignation as England boss

England are looking for a new manager after Fabio Capello resigned from his post as the national team boss following showdown talks with the FA.
The Italian has walked away from his job with Euro 2012 just a matter of months away after cracks in the relationship between himself and the FA surfaced following their decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy.
Capello was all set to leave after this summer’s European Championships but believes his position became untenable after the intervention of the FA chiefs.
Twitter was quick to react to the news with numerous high-profile Premier League footballers having their opinion on the Italian’s departure."Shocked about news on Fabio Capello...gutted to be honest, gave me my 1st cap and believed in me! Thank you Mr Capello! #GreatManager People have there own judgement on Capello but for a young player who was given the chance to play for my country at such a young age... He has shown great belief and trust in me so I can only thank him....massive influence on my career so far! Sad to see him go!"
Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere reacted to Capello’s sacking on Twitter just moments after the news broke.
"Capello resigns,I don't think anyone sew it coming..interesting.."
Arsenal midfielder Yossi Benayoun tweets of his shock of the news.
"Fabio Capello resigns as England manager. Who's next?"
Manchester City’s Nigel de Jong sparks open a debate.
"Watching sky sports news! Maybe the new England manager whoever it is will travel to the North East n watch a game up here"
Newcastle’s Danny Simpson is hoping to catch the eye of the new England manager.
"Wow, only just seen the news. Capello resigns.Surely we will stick to an Englishman as our next manager. And that should run right through the squad from players to tea lady IMO."
Former England striker Michael Owen is shocked by the former Real Madrid manager’s abrupt departure.
"Capellos gone time to act let's get it right!! In a funny way I've started to feel more positive about the euros in the summer clean slate! I still believe capello is a great manager though his record backs that-just didn't quite work out with England for many reasons not all his"
Experienced former England man Phil Neville is taking the positives from the poor timing of Capello’s exit.
"Well, well, well, this debacle claims yet another victim. Where does this stop. #madness No captain and no manager. 4 months from a major championship. What's going on......."
The ever-reserved Joey Barton once more has an opinion on the breaking news.
"Gutted to see Fabio Capello go he put a lot of trust in me and gave me my first cap just want to say a big thanks really.."
Tottenham defender Kyle Walker was quick to thank Capello for helping him to realise his international ambitions.
