Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he would be shocked if Paul Scholes made a U-turn on his England retirement.

Scholes, 35, rejected a call up to the World Cup 2010 squad, but the clamour to bring him back into the international fold has continued ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

The veteran midfielder is expected to rebuff any further attempts to recruit him and his club boss has revealed his doubts about the prospect.

Speaking to reporters today, Ferguson said: "I have no idea about England. I wouldn't have thought so."
