Gael Kakuta: I Worked Extra Hard To Earn Chelsea Debut
French youngster believes double training sessions paid off…
The young Frenchman, the focus of so much media attention after the Blues' transfer ban for his alleged inducement to break his contract at RC Lens in 2007, came on as a second-half substitute at Stamford Bridge and enjoyed the occasion.
He himself had been banned for four months for the inducement affair, but, like his club's transfer ban, his suspension is itself suspended pending a final judgement from the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
"I have been out because of the ban so I have been working hard every day in training doing double sessions and I feel good," he told The London Evening Standard.
"It has felt a bit like doing pre-season. When the boys have finished training I have still been working in the afternoon.
"I've been waiting a long time to make my debut and I am really happy to have done it. I wasn't nervous at all. Whenever I play I just try to do my best."
