In what seems to be a day of family inspiration in world football, Arsenal midfielder Alexandre Song has declared that nothing motivates him in the game more than his wife and children.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international is married to his long-time love, Olivia, and has two children: sons Nolan and Kaylian.Song said to The Mirror: “Every time I step on to the pitch at the Emirates, I just look up to where my wife and my son are sitting, wave to him and I do everything for my family. I want to give them all of my love because they make me strong.”
Song’s passion for his family comes from much love, along with a very large family, of 17 sisters and 10 brothers, and says that his wish is to be the father to his children that he never had.
Adding: “My family is so important to me. I was only three years old when my father died, I didn’t know him and that is why I am so determined to be there for my family.”
“That is what makes me happy now and makes me feel strong. It makes me proud to know that my son is watching me on the pitch.”
He concluded: “They are my motivation all of the time on the pitch.”
Song will be missing for the Gunners for around a month come January due to the African Cup of Nations.
