Francis Fernandes, besides Sunil Chhetri and Robin Singh, is one of the three seniors in the 30-member squad for the Asian Games camp under India coach Wim Koevermans.
The Salgaocar FC midfielder however feels that the rest of the Under-23 players in the camp are on equal footing as the seniors given their experience in the I-League.
"They (Under-23 players) are also like seniors. They have played with some good clubs [in the I-League]. We should first play well and then guide them," the 28-year-old told Goal.
"I have been in the senior squad for around three years when we won the SAFF Cup and Nehru Cup at the time when Savio Madeira had taken over. I always want to give my best," he added.
Addressing issues on his fitness, Fernandes stated, "Salgaocar called us up to train in the gym. So I am feeling fit."
The only other player from Salgaocar FC to be named for the training camp is Under-23 player Clifton Dias who his team-mate tipped to succeed.
"He (Clifton Dias) played well this season and has got enough confidence in him," Fernandes said.
