Clifton Dias admitted that he didn't expect to be called for the India Under-23 camp for the Asian Games by national team coach Wim Koevermans.
The midfielder had a decent season with Salgaocar FC who finished third on the I-League table.
"It feels good to be named in the India camp. Actually, I was surprised when I read the news. But I will work hard to give my best to the team in whichever way I can," Dias told Goal.
Although the training camp begins from the 1st July in Bengaluru, the 22-year-old stated that a player has to be ready in advance.
"A player has to be match fit at any given time. All the [Salgaocar] players who are in Goa have already begun training in the gym," revealed the Goan.
At one stage Salgaocar FC were the frontrunners to win the I-League 2013-14 but their dream run was undone by a few bad results. Dias feels that the only way to get better next season is to work harder.
"Last season was a good lesson for us that we have to keep on working harder as the season grows older," he observed.
