Lionel Messi has once again shown his appreciation for Indian fans as he praised their passion for the beautiful game.

The Barcelona star was visited Kolkata in September, 2011 to play an international friendly at the Salt Lake Stadium against Venezuela where he captained the Albiceleste for the very first time.

Speaking to an Argentinean TV channel TyC Sports, Messi said, “its crazy being in India and having people around our hotel at 4 am.

“I really appreciate the love fans show me. I try to give them time but sometimes it's impossible.”

Earlier the 26-year old had stated that India had left a lasting impression on his mind.

“The last time I stepped into India, I was overwhelmed with the warmth and passion this country showered on me. India left its famously lasting impression and with that lingering memory, my family and I have always wanted to develop an association with the country,” he mentioned.
