One of India’s latest football development projects, IFB Boca Juniors Football Champs will now feature the champions of the Goa leg who will join the all India finals to be held later this year. Goa was the fifth stop for the unique initiative that has opened the doors for budding footballers from both schools and colleges all across the country.

The Talegaon Football Ground in Goa hosted the Goa edition of the IFB Boca Football Champs. The tournament received an overwhelming response from participating schools and colleges while the display of football skills and acumen was also encouraging for this mammoth initiative.

From about 30 schools that came forward and participated in the tournament, Father Agnel High School, Pilar was crowned the new champions of Goa as they beat a disciplined St. Alex’s High School, Curtorim by a solitary goal in the final.

Father Agnel School’s Dominic Soares has been shortlisted as one of the talented boys from Goa who would be attending a training camp to be conducted by coaches from Boca Juniors of Argentina. Auxilium Convent Caranzalem’s Rohan Viejas was shortlisted as the Most Promising Player of the School Category.

It could have been even better for Father Agnel College Pilar but they stumbled at the final hurdle. Rosary College, Navelim got better of them in the finals of the college leg of the inaugural edition of IFB Boca Juniors Football Champs.

Rosary College of Navelim emerged as champions out of 22 top colleges that featured in the first ever IFB Boca Football Champs Goa edition. Rosary beat Father Agnel by two goals to one in the final match of the college leg.

Leonardo will get a chance of a lifetime to train under the coaches of Boca Juniors and if he does well he might be one of the seven boys selected to travel all the way to Argentina for a train camp at at the club's academy. Samuel Almeida of Saraswat Caculo College Mapusa was named as the Most Promising Player of the college leg.

Goa can now boast of new school and college champions in Father Agnel High School Pilar and Rosary College Navelim respectively who shall go on to represent the state in the all India finals.
