The record Indian goal scorer has praised the Indian FA for trying to get the premier football competition to the subcontinent
Bengaluru FC and Indian captain Sunil Chhetri has lauded the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for persevering in an attempt to bring the Club World Cup (CWC), a premier club football competition, to the subcontinent in the 2015-16 season.
“Obviously, it will be a great achievement for Indian football if the Club World Cup happens here and is followed by the Under-17 World Cup. You can’t ask for anything more,” elucidated the record Indian goal-scorer, to The Telegraph.
He also concluded that if the CWC were to be held in India, especially after they had won the hosting rights for the U-17 World Cup in 2017, it would give a major boost to Indian football.
“Scouts from all over the world will be coming to India before the start of the U-17 World Cup. India could be the cynosure then,” concluded the Indian skipper.
