The Mumbai FC gaffer hopes that his side can turn their poor run of results at home when they face Bengaluru FC next...
Mumbai FC’s early season form seems to have deserted them as they succumbed to their third straight loss on Saturday by going down 1-0 to Mohun Bagan.
Khalid Jamil was understandably disappointed with the result but praised his boys by putting in an improved performance.
“There is not much to say. We just have to hope for good performance in the future. Everything was okay. They had one chance and scored. I think we played better,” he observed.
Lalrinchhana Tochhawng was introduced from the bench for Jayesh Rane in the 56th minute before being substituted 28 minutes later for Rohit Mirza.
“The move didn’t click. The rest of the players were doing fine. I thought maybe I could add another fresh player,” he said.
Jamil took the blame upon himself and reasoned that he should have made more changes to his line-up instead of just one as he included midfielder Manuel D’Souza for Dane Pereira from the last game.
“I should have opted to rotate the squad. I did that just for Manuel who played good. I did think about changing the goalkeeper (Kunal Sawant) for this game but I didn’t. It was my entire mistake as the players gave their best and tried. What I had planned didn’t click. The luck also needs to favour us,” he said.
Their next game is against Bengaluru FC and Jamil plans to ring in a few changes to his team.
“I have to make some changes. We don’t have to give up and instead work. From the last two matches, performance wise I am satisfied. The result didn’t quite work out for us,” he said.
