Football fans across the length and breadth of the country can heave a huge sigh of relief as Shabbir Ali, India’s legendary striking stalwart, who had been admitted to hospital on account of a cardiac arrest, was now out of danger and whose condition was said to be stabilizing.
Goal had earlier reported on the issue after learning the Dhyan Chand awardee had been rushed to hospital following a heart attack.
In a statement of assurance, his son Zafar addressed The Telegraph and confirmed, “His condition is stable and the doctors said he is responding to the treatment. He would be kept under observation for 72 hours.”
A spokesperson for the Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata, where the former Indian ace is admitted said, “As far as certain perimeters are concerned, there is some kind of a progress in his condition. A medical board of experts will also be constituted.
“Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at around 11, there will be another bulletin. For the time being, he has to remain on the ventilator.”
