The Indian FA shall review the bids received and thereafter take a call as to who would host the prestigious competition…
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) have begun the process of inspection after having received three bids to host the 2013-14 Santosh Trophy, the national football championship.
Goa, West Bengal and Haryana have expressed their interest in hosting the competition which is slated to kick-off in December this year. Howeven given the fact that West Bengal and Haryana have hosted the competition in the last six years, Goa chances appear bright.
“We have started the process of inspecting the venues. A final decision is expected to be taken soon ,” said a senior AIFF official to The Times of India.
“If you ask me personally, Goa’s chances are good. But everything will depend on the AIFF executive committee.
“If Goa does not hesitate, I don’t see any reason why the tournament should not be allotted to Goa,” he added. In the past, Goa has hosted the competition on three occasions and were the finalists in 1996 on the last occasion where they went down to their arch rivals in West Bengal at the Fatorda Stadium.
