The duo, who have been released by Churchill Brothers, are now close to agreeing a deal with the Mumbai based club...
Having finally got the green light to participate in the I-League from next season, and having confirmed that Bimal Ghosh will be at the helm for next season, Mumbai Tigers are now well and truly entering the transfer market with the hope of making some stellar signings for their foray into the top tier.
Their first two targets seem to be Steven Dias and Tomba Singh, who played for Churchill Brothers last season, and played an important role as their team won the I-League. It must be noted that the two players started their careers under the watchful eyes of Ghosh.
However neither could agree a new deal at the Red Machines, with the club not ready to meet their demands.
It seems that this reluctance of the Goan side’s behalf has allowed the Mumbai Tigers to take up the driver’s seat, as they look to add some experience to their squad.
A source close to Goal stated that the duo were definitely on the club’s wishlist, but there was still some disparity in-between the demands of the players and what the club is ready to offer.
While Steven Dias refused to reveal whether an agreement has been reached, he mentioned that he was hoping to return to Mumbai and play under Bimal Ghosh again. He told Goal, “Yes I will mostly be back in Mumbai for next season. I started my career under that coach (Bimal Ghosh), so I respect him a lot, and I wanted to play under him again.”
Goal understands that the two parties are now close to inking a deal, which could make them Mumbai Tigers' first recruits in the top tier.
