The former East Bengal man returns to the City of Joy after a span of three years and hopes to make a lasting impression this time....Ramez Dayoub will be making a return to Kolkata with his team Selangor FA as they take on East Bengal in their group stage match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup at the Salt Lake Stadium. The 28-year old has had a tryst with Indian football when he was with East Bengal in 2009 for three months, but unfortunately did not feature in a single game as he did not get a release from Safa FC, the club he represented then.
But the Lebanese national is focussed on his job at hand for his team against one of India's best teams.
"It will be a tough game this Wednesday," the central defender told The Telegraph. "I haven’t heard much about East Bengal since 2010. But I do know they have an Australian striker (Andrew Barisic) who’s pretty impressive," Dayoub added.
Ramez, who can also double up as a defensive midfielder, is now a key part of this Selangor side who lie currently in second place in the Malaysian league. However he does not rule out a return to East Bengal, claiming that if the offer suits him he would grace Indian shores again.
Considering that this is Dayoub's final season with Selangor he would look to go out with a bang and a good start against East Bengal is just the way to do so.
