The Indian national team have dropped one place in the latest edition of the FIFA rankings…India have dropped down to 167th in the FIFA rankings ladder and are still placed 31st in the continent. The last encounter of the Men in Blue ended in a 2-4 defeat to Palestine in an international friendly match that was played on home soil, at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi, Kerala.
Among the teams from the sub-continent, India are ranked above Bangladesh (169), Sri Lanka (193), Nepal (174) and also neighbours Pakistan (170) who have jumped ahead by an incredible 19 places from their 189th rank last month.
The team will be traveling for their next assignment, that is the AFC Challenge Cup (2014) Qualifiers in Yangon, in the last week of February. India play their first match against Chinese Taipei on March 2 followed by matches against Guam and hosts Myanmar on March 4th and March 6th respectively.
Japan are the highest Asian ranked nation in 28th spot followed by Australia in 37th and South Korea in 38th.
