thumbnail Hello,

India's Dutch coach expressed his disappointment after their friendly against Yemen early next week was cancelled.

Wim Koevermans, Indian national team coach, highlighted the need for India to play matches on FIFA international matchdays after their friendly against Yemen due to be played next week was cancelled due to late notification by the Yemen Football Association (YFA) to Gulf Airlines regarding tickets. Now India will have to wait till February for the next FIFA official matchday.

"I'm very disappointed. We were all looking forward to the match and suddenly it gets cancelled. It is a big shock. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) tried to get some other country but the time span was very little," said Koevermans to The Times of India after watching the I-League game between Pailan Arrows and Pune FC.

The YFA communicated to the AIFF about the cancellation through an e-mail. The AIFF were unable to reach the Yemenese authorities for further clarification.

Coach Koevermans informed that he had written to Yemen coach Tom Saintfet. "I wrote to him and he replied saying he did not know that the match had been cancelled. That is a bit surprising, but that is their concern," said Koevermans.
