The Indian FA have managed to get the permission to use Keenan Stadium as one of the venues for the Federation Cup…
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) have resolved the Federation Cup venue conundrum for group A and D matches as they got a green signal from the local authorities in Jamshedpur to use Keenan Stadium to host the matches.
The Indian FA were embarrassed after they had earlier allotted Ranchi as one of the two hosts alongside Siliguri for the Federation Cup without an inspection being conducted. However when an inspection was done by one of the senior vice-presidents, the report stated that the Morabadi Stadium was in a perfect condition to host the matches.
It was last week when another senior vice-president made a visit to Ranchi that it was learnt that the field was uneven at the Morabadi Stadium while the Mega City Sports Complex had two cricket pitches in the centre of the field.
Thereafter Jamshedpur was confirmed as the venue for group A and D matches of the Federation Cup with JRD Tata Sports Complex to host all the matches. The I-League clubs made their frustrations known as this would lead to one of the two matches played at the venue to kickoff at lunch time.
In their bid to put an end to the venue saga, the Indian FA hoped that they could get permission to use the Keenan Stadium, which is used for cricket primarily, so that they do not have to face the ire of the clubs.
It is reliably learnt, according to AIFF sources, that the two matches at Jamshedpur would kickoff simultaneously at 3 pm IST.
Meanwhile, Ten Action+ are likely to broadcast the Federation Cup matches with two games telecasted LIVE daily – one each from Jamshedpur and Siliguri.
