The Indian women's team put on another masterful performance as they scored eleven past a hapless Afghanistan to book their place in this editions finalIndian football is on a high now. Just weeks after the men's team won the Nehru Cup, the Women's team are one step closer to bringing home more silverware by reaching the final of the second Women’s SAFF Championship after defeating Afghanistan 11-0 at the CR & FC ground in Colombo on Friday. Oinam Bem Bem Devi and co. will meet either Nepal or hosts Sri Lanka in the summit clash on Sunday.
The team, that defeated Bhutan by the same scoreline earlier in the tournament, took the lead as early as in the 4th minute through Yumnam Kamala Devi, who completed her hattrick in the second half.
The Afghans looked lost as the Indians added salt to the wound by scoring another three in the first half with Prameshwori Devi, skipper Bem Bem Devi and Sasmita Mallick registering their names on the scoresheet.
One would have expected the Indians to relax in the second half after building such a comfortable lead however they were wrong as India decided to add seven more nails to Afghanistan's coffin. Sasmita Mallick completed her hattrick, with Bem Bem Devi,Pinky Bombal adding more goals later in the second half. Yumnam Kamala Devi scored her third goal in stoppage time.
The final between hosts Sri Lanka and India is on Sunday.
