Aizawl FC gave HAL SC a footballing lesson at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Thursday as they brushed past HAL SC 5-1 in the Federation Cup qualifiers.
The Mizoram side, who had lost their opening fixture to Mohammedan Sporting 6-1, recovered in time to register a comprehensive win.
It all started in the 22nd minute when midfielder Michael Lalremruata scored the opening goal for Aizawl. However the lead didn’t last long as R.C.Prakash equalized three minutes later.
Just before the half hour mark, Aizawl regained their lead as K.Lalrintluanga scored his first goal of the match.
After the change of ends, midfielder Johny Lalfakzuala scored in the 53rd minute which was followed by Lalrinthluanga scoring his second goal in the 65th minute.
Just three minutes before the end of regulation time, Francis Zonuntlunga netted a goal to end the misery for HAL SC.
