Shillong Lajong sign Friday Gbeneme to bolster their strike force

The north east outfit added the Nigerian striker on their roster for the upcoming season in their quest to add firepower upfront...

Having managed to score a paltry 24 goals last season in 26 matches, new coach Desmond Bulpin has identified Friday Gbeneme to bolster his side’s attack.

The former national coach of Philippines had informed of his desire to strengthen his side’s strikeforce after their disappointing performance in front of goal in the 2011-12 season.

Friday scored 12 goals in 19 appearances for Mumbai FC in the I-League, which is a decent performance in his debut season.

Previously Friday featured for Victory sports club (Maldives), Semen Padang, PSIS Semarang and Persih Tembilahan (Indonesia).

Larsing Ming Sawyan, General Secretary of Shillong Lajong FC said,” We are happy to have signed Friday Gbeneme. He has proved to be a consistent goal scorer in which ever league he has played in and we hope that he will continue to perform well in the upcoming I-League season for Lajong.”
