thumbnail Hello,

The Bollywood superstar is close to buying a stake in the I-League champions which will be completed very soon…

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to signing a deal with Dempo SC wherein he shall acquire a stake at the club, details of which will be revealed soon.

Shrinivas Dempo, the owner of the club, had earlier mentioned that the deal is still being worked upon and should be completed by July.

“Everything is set and things will be finalised very soon,” Armando Colaco, the club coach cum secretary, was quoted saying in The Herald.

Colaco also informed that he had notified the All India Football Federation (AIFF) of their AFC Cup matches to be played at Tilak Stadium, subject to approval from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Margao is booked for Lusofonia Games in November and thereafter will be closed for renovation for a year.

“It all depends on AFC’s approval of the new venue, or else we will have to have the matches at Nehru stadium, Fatorda. In any case, we will not go outside Goa to host of AFC Cup matches, as it involves heavy, unproductive expenditure. The worse is playing in an empty stadium, without our fans, supporters. It is demotivating.

“We have already briefed the AIFF general secretary Kushal Das and I-League CEO Sunando Dhar about the proposed shift in the venue should Tilak Stadium, not be approved by AFC who will conduct an inspection to check the facilities,” Colaco stated.

Armando Finding It Difficult To Replace Ranti Martins

Focusing on the season ahead, Colaco admitted that he shall definitely miss the services of Ranti Martins, who has moved too Prayag United SC this summer, given that the Nigerian has been loyal servant of Dempo SC for a long time.

“Ranti was there with us for 10 pretty long years. He had become part of the family. He knew everything, all details, the inner working. I am missing him and it will very difficult to find a replacement with such a high degree of understanding.

“We are looking for a striker and a defender. We have a Ghanaian, a Cameroonian, a Nigerian and an Uganda-based player who will undergo trials before the window period closes. We have already roped in Koko [Sakibo] and [Ryuji] Sueoka and that leaves us with two vacancies,” Colaco mentioned.
