Official: Churchill Brothers SC sign Mariano Dias as head coach and Lebanese centre back Bilal Nijjarin
The Goan giants have also been active in the transfer market as they managed to lure three players from Pailan Arrows and another three from TFA...
Churchill Brothers Sports Club have signed Mariano Dias as the head coach of their senior team for I-League season 2012-13.Following a third place finish in the league last season, Carlos Pareira was not handed a new contract and saw the Goan coach replace the Brazilian. Pareira had joined Churchill Brothers midway through the season when Manuel Gomes was given the boot by the club management.
Confirming the same, club official Denzil Ferrao said, "Carlos Pareira did not sign a new contract so we signed Mariano as our head coach and Subhash Bhowmick will continue to be the Technical Director."
After winning the Santosh trophy with Goa in 2010, Dias worked as senior technical director of the Youth Development Programme of Salgaocar Sports Club and was also handed an opportunity as assistant to former Indian national team coach Savio Medeira.
Churchill has also roped in Lebanese international Bilal Sheikh El Najjarin in the Asian player's slot thus replacing Australian centre back Antun Kovacic.
"Beto (Roberto da Silva Martins) and Henri [Antchouet] will remain with the team. The fourth foreigner is not signed as yet," Ferrao added.
"Bilal will arrive Goa on Friday morning. We have also signed three boys from Pailan Arrows and three from TFA (Tata Football Academy)."
The players from Pailan Arrows to join the Goan side are striker Ajay Singh, centre back Gurtej Singh and central midfielder Bikramjeet Singh.
Goalkeeper Bilal Khan, left back Manpreet Singh and center back Sanjay Balmuehu have been recruited from Tata Football Academy (TFA).
The senior team have started their pre-season with a morning and evening training regime at the Chowgule artificial turf grounds at Margao, Goa.
