After becoming the first state in the country to have an artificial turf football field, Goa is now set to be the first to have three...
Goa Football Association (GFA) President Shrinivas Dempo has revealed that the Fifa delegation have supervised the grounds in the state for installation of artificial turf.

"When the Fifa delegation came down to Goa, we showed them both venues (Tilak Maidan in Vasco and SAG ground in Fatorda). The GFA executive committee members are favouring Fatorda," he said.

The Chowgule sports complex in South Goa is currently the only ground to already have an artificial turf in Goa while GFA's Stadium at Duler-Mapusa has also been confirmed for installation of the same.

Work at the Duler stadium is already underway and nearing completion while work at the other venue is expected to start by around September, after the same has been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) executive director Elvis Gomes revealed, "The SAG feels that the ground outside the Nehru Stadium would be the best available venue for the second artificial turf.

"This is a central venue and with an artificial turf we can host as many matches as we possibly want. Most of the competitions can be held at this ground," he added.
