The president of India's top football governing body, Praful Patel, who was absent from the celebrations, in his message focused on the need to create the right foundation to take Indian football to the next level.
“It is indeed a great occasion that we are 75 years old. I am sure that with the programme undertaken in the Platinum Jubilee year we will go a long way in creating the right impetus to take Indian football to the next level in due course," said Patel.Meanwhile it was legendary Indian footballer, Chuni Goswami who unfurled the flag to start the proceedings. Other notable dignitaries present were AIFF Senior Vice Presidents AR Khaleel and Subrata Dutta as well as Hardev Jadeja,Ankur Dutta, Tempo Bhutia and Sunil Bharadwaj among others. Chuni also unveiled the new AIFF logo on this occasion.
AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das summarized the 75 years of the federation's existence.
"It is a momentous day for all football lovers. The AIFF which was launched in 1937 is now 75 years old. We are proud of our history."
Meanwhile he also laid out the central body's future plans.
"AIFF has big plans for the development of football especially the launch of youth academies which will go a long way in improving and developing the game in India."
