Shah Rukh Khan leads the race to acquire 50% stake at Dempo SC – Report

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to buy 50% shares of Dempo SC, the I-League champions, in a deal should close within the next week or so, as reported by The Economic Times.
Officials from Dempo SC and the Bollywood star confirmed the same to the said newspaper of the negotiations but the nitty-gritty’s weren’t shared. It was also reported that a former cricketer, who takes an keen interest in football, is also in contention to vie for the stake.
Shrinivas Dempo, the owner of Dempo SC, confirmed that he had indeed met SRK on several occasions and mentioned to The Economic Times that the talks “have been very positive, though not yet closed.” He added that though 50% stake in the club would be given away, they shall retain its name.
It is believed that Khan, who co-owns Kolkata Knight Riders – an Indian Premier League (IPL) club – wants to diversify into sports business under the banner of the entertainment business run through his Red Chillies Entertainment.
