Goal.com caught up with FPAI Fans' Player of the Year nominee, Salgaocar's Francis Fernandes

Francis Fernandes

Age: 26
Position:
Midfielder
Club:
Salgaocar
Goals:
3

Francis Fernandes is one of the six nominees for the Fans' Player of the Year award in the FPAI Indian Football Awards 2012. Fernandes has been a mainstay in Salgaocar’s midfield throughout this campaign. His exemplary work rate and consistency has seen him turnout 21 times for the Goan side scoring 3 goals in the league. His rich vein of form had also earned him an India call up from Savio Medeira. It is no surprise hence that he finds himself nominated as a Player of the Year contender.

 We asked him a few questions on his nomination;

1. How happy are you to be nominated for the FPAI?

I’m very happy to be nominated for the FPAI Fans' Player of the Year award. I am the only Goan on the list and it is an honour to be nominated amongst such big players.

2. What are your chances of winning the award?

I am not concerned about winning, I am very happy to be nominated.

3. Is there anyone you would like to thank for your success?

I would like to thank all my teammates, my coaches, the management, all the supporting fans and the all mighty God.

4. Will you remain at Salgaocar next season or move to another club?

I will remain at Salgaoar next season, I still have one year left on my contract.

The process to vote for your favourite player is simple as all YOU have to do is visit www.thefpai.net and vote for your favourite. Voting starts April 24 from 22:00 IST
