Hernan Crespo of Chelsea
Hernan Crespo and Fabio Cannavaro were the most pursued players among those auctioned for the Premier League Soccer's (PLS) five franchisees on Monday afternoon at Taj Bangla.

The Argentinean had the highest base price of $840,000 and was bought for the same value by Howrah. Italy's World Cup winning skipper Fabio Cannavaro came second best as it was Siliguri who grabbed him for $830,000 from a base price of $780,000.

Among the coaches, it was Kolkata who managed to land the former Manchester City manager Peter Reid for $200,000 from base price of 165,000 while Fernando Couto, the former director of football at SC Braga, was the most expensive coach at $240,000 with Howrah bagging the bragging rights.

Legendary French winger Robert Pires was bought by Howrah for $800,000 from a base price of $715,000.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler was subject to a bidding war between Kolkata and Durgapur but it was the latter who had the last say at $530,000 from $450,000.

Jay Jay Okocha of Nigeria and Bolton fame, automatically went to Durgapur as they failed to match the bids for the above mentioned "ICON" players.

Samson Siasia was torn between Durgapur and Barasat but the former eventually won the battle by bidding $210,000 for his services as a coach. Teitur Thordarson is set to coach Barasat after being valued at the same amount as Siasia.

Bolivian legend Marco Etcheverry ended up being at Siliguri for $200000 after there weren't many takers for him. With only five of the six franchises being bought, John Barnes and Juan Pablo Sorin were axed from the bidding auction.
