thumbnail Hello,

Goal.com's Amoy Ghoshal gives you a pictorial insight into Kolkata's new-look Salt Lake Stadium, which has been refurbished for Friday's much awaited international friendly.

One major positive outcome of the much awaited international friendly between Argentina and Venezuela has been the much needed refurbishing of the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

Despite having capacity of more than 100,000, the stadium was far from being of international standard. Thus organizers Celebrity Management Group (CMG) along with IFA, AIFF and the West Bengal Government had to work really hard to get the stadium ready for Friday's historic encounter.

Goal.com's Amoy Ghoshal was at the stadium on Tuesday evening to get a first hand experience of the much needed changes at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Here are some pictures which will reveal the same.

As promised by the organizers and the State Government, two new electronic scoreboards have been installed at two ends of the ground.

New Scoreboard

The seats in the VIP box have also been repaired and newly painted. The new look VIP box does look colourful and won't make the fans think twice about sitting on them.

Colourful New Seats

The stadium is of course not an all-seater but unlike earlier times there is proper arrangement for drinking water and cleaner toilets, including ladies toilets, which were absent previously.

Returning back to areas related to the match itself, new dugouts have also been placed and finally there are new goalposts in the stadium.

The passage to the dressing room has also been renovated and looks much better than what the players in India have had to experience previously.

Clean & Tidy

The highlight of the makeover has to be the two dressing rooms. The two South American nations have no doubt had better dressing rooms in the past but the ones at Salt Lake, won't disappoint them and vitally will be enjoyed by players in Indian football in the future.

Finally Some Proper Dressing Rooms

And not surprisingly, while leaving the stadium I found out that finishing touches were still being added to some areas.
