Football Players Association of India (FPAI) are to conduct their second awards function next month at the national capital in what promises to be an entertaining evening for those present. Goal.com, the largest football new media company, has joined hands with FPAI to promote the event and give it complete 360 degree coverage to popularize and help creating awareness on one of the biggest functions in Indian football. The two organisations had earlier worked together to make the second edition of IT Futsal Festival a success.

“I think awards are very, very special...the first of a kind in India. Goal.com is very well known company and we have a very good relationship with them in India, and are working together.

“In India, this is our second awards, the first award was a massive success and the second will also be a major success as well. I think tying up with Goal.com can help mutually both ways,” said FPAI president Bhaichung Bhutia.

FPAI have categorized a special award giving YOU the opportunity to have YOUR say! The 'Fans' Player of the Year' award is up for grabs and to vote for one of the five nominess - Kalu Nnanna, Mohammed Rafi, Edmar Figueira, Subrata Paul and Anthony Pereira, please visit www.fpaofindia.com.

Potential Blackburn owner Saurin Shah claimed last month in a interview that he would “love to give him (Bhaichung)” an opening at the Premier League club should he get the work permit.

The Sikkimese Sniper turned down the offer and mentioned that at his age (33), he wouldn’t want to leave the country for a foreign sojourn.

Blackburn? Nope, Not Now

“No, I don’t think I will be interested right now. I think I am not in that age where I want to go outside India. So I don’t think I want to be playing outside India,”  Bhaichung.

The Indian national team are in Thailand to play the first of several friendly games lined-up this month after their two month Portugal training camp. Speaking on the preparations of the side, the star striker mentioned that while they have successfully completed part one of their training, it’s time to continue the good work until the 2011 Asian Cup kicks-off.

“I think it’s been very good preparation. Obviously, it’s still few more months left but I think the pre-season is what is very important. I think it’s gone off very well. So we need to follow the remaining months with a good season,” observed Bhaichung.
