India Under-19 Coach Colin Toal Pleased To End On A Winning Note
The coach is now looking ahead to January’s SAFF Games…
Coach Colin Toal felt that the team did well to fight back and win their last two games, especially the one against Kuwait.
Speaking to the official website of the Indian federation he said, “I am very pleased that after the disappointing start we have managed to win two matches.
“The manner of the two victories has reinforced in us the belief that this is a very good group and the international exposure we have gained during these five matches will be of great benefit to us when we go for the SAFF games in January.”
He also said that India was probably in the toughest group of the tournament and even though they couldn’t qualify, it was a good learning experience for the team.
“I think we have played in a very difficult group. An Iraq Journalist called it the Group of Death in a Press Conference the other day and I think there is some truth in it.
“However, it has gave us the opportunity to play four very strong teams and to find out a little bit more about ourselves and where we stand in Asian football.
"As I said before we are all disappointed that we did not have a little more fortune in our opening matches. However our Boys were able to show the character they possess by overcoming our poor start and finishing the tournament very strongly.”
