On a high after beating UAE Club Al Shaab 4-0, the India U-19 team suffered a big setback as they were thrashed 5-0 by hosts Iraq in their opening match of the AFC Championship qualifying round.

Ankur Datta, AIFF Vice President and Team Manager for the trip, spoke after the defeat. He said, "Iraq played very well on their home ground, and we can also say that they are a better side."

After letting in five goals, it was evident that the Indian defence wasn't upto the mark, a view echoed by Mr.Datta. He labeled the performance as unsatisfactory. However, he did mention that the team should have scored.

He added, "Our team's performance was not at all satisfactory in the game, especially that of our defence and goalkeeper. Having said that, we did create chances, but failed to take them."

The team's task doesn't get any easier, as they next play Asian giants Saudi Arabia on 7th November.
