More Humiliation For East Bengal As They Suffer Their Third Straight Defeat
The trouble seems to never end for East Bengal...
Subhash Bhowmick’s selection of the foreign players has been questioned after they have failed to deliver the goods so far. Following the disappointment in the IFA Shield, the East Bengal officials had decided to appoint their football secretary, Santosh Bhattacharya to look into the team matters.
Speaking to Goal.com following the 1-0 defeat, Bhattacharya said, “The main reason for our defeat is that the team combination is not right. It isn’t working. The foreign players have flopped big time.”
But the foreign players were handpicked by coach Subhash Bhowmick so does this mean that the officials are beginning to doubt their coach’s choice?
“Yes, the foreign players were the coach’s choice. I spoke to the coach and he too isn’t very happy with them.
“Most probably, we are to release these foreign players and look for new ones,” said Bhattacharya.
Bhowmick’s future with the Red and Gold’s is also in the air as his failure to give results hasn’t gone well with the club management and the fans.
“Why we lost is something that the coach has to answer. Whether he shall stay or not that the committee shall decide,” said East Bengal general secretary Kalyan Majumdar.
