The Indian FA Executive Committee Meeting, which was held last month, have further chopped the ten member list to half its number. Earlier the Emergency Committee had shortlisted ten names for the top post in July.

Three members backed out of the race with Sunando Dhar, who hadn’t applied for the post but saw his name being included, pulled out with Shaumik Majumdar. A candidate from northern India also decided not to contest.

The Indian FA had written a letter to the ten potential general secretaries asking whether they still intend to contest and what do they expect monetarily.

It is reliably learnt that two candidates demanded in excess of rupees twenty five lakhs per annum, which has automatically ruled them out of the contest.

This means that only five aspirants, namely Savio Messias, Dr.Shaji Prabhakaran, Col. Subodh Bhatnagar, Col. Gautam Kar and Baliga, are in contention for the next Indian FA general secretary’s post.

The interviews are likely to be conducted by the Emergency Committee on the 24th of this month.
