AIFF To Reward Players, Also Announces Superstar Brand Ambassador

The AIFF made two important announcements in the wake of India's Nehru Cup triumph in New Delhi...

Bhaichung Bhutia - Nehru Cup (Mango Peel)
In the wake of India's superb performance in the just-concluded Nehru Cup, the All India Football Federation has decided to reward the Indian squad for their efforts.

The President of the AIFF, Mr.Praful Patel announced yesterday that each member of the Indian team would receive a cash prize of Rs.2 Lakhs, whereas Man of the Series Bhaichung Bhutia and Man of the Match in the final Subrata Paul will receive Rs.5 Lakhs each. The rewards will surely come as a shot in the arm for the title-winning squad.

There was another announcement which was made by Mr.Patel. As many spectators at the ground and television viewers at home would have noticed, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was at the Ambedkar Stadium yesterday to witness the final.

Mr.Patel, to the delight of many, also revealed that the actor would now be the brand ambassador for the AIFF, and hence, for Indian football. Also, Khan will not be charging any monetary compensation for the same.

All in all, an incredible moment for Indian football was made just that little bit sweeter. Goal.com hopes that the AIFF, under Mr.Patel and with the help of Salman Khan, will continue to take Indian football forward in the immediate future.
