Yakubu Shall Come, Dayoub To Stay - Subhash Bhowmick

Dayoub, who played for Safa SC, last season caught the eye of Bhowmick and thereafter, joined the Red and Gold’s pre-season camp. Under the new ‘3+1’ AFC rule, East Bengal are keen to have him in their squad for the upcoming season.

However, when the club applied for the ITC, the Lebanese FA replied stating the defender was a registered player with the Lebanese club, which the player in question denies, according to Bhowmick.

Speaking to Goal.com, Subhash Bhowmick said, “He shall be with us. The Lebanese FA haven’t stated about his contract in the letter.”

It is reliably learnt that since acquiring the ITC seems unlikely under the present circumstances, Dayoub would have to wait for a while before plying his trade in India.

Yusif Yakubu hasn’t yet turned for East Bengal’s pre-season and that has reportedly not gone well with the club.

“Yakubu has to come. We have got his inter-state transfer from Goa and he has also taken money from us,” said Bhowmick sternly.

The Ghanaian has been involved in transfer controversies with one with Salgaocar SC being the most recent one where he took the money and thereafter, seized a move to East Bengal while Bhowmick was the coach of the Goan club.

“Even if he comes by mid-September, it’s fine. I’m not going to play him in the IFA Shield as we are allowed to field only two foreign players, wherein I shall play Sebastian and Edmilson,” added Bhowmick.

East Bengal are to leave for Myanmar to play for friendly games in their bid to prepare for the first competitive trophy of the new season.
