The Emergency Committee, comprising of the four vice-presidents – Subrata Dutta, Ankur Dutta, A.R.Khaleel and Venod Sharma, the treasurer Hardev Jadeja and the acting president, Praful Patel presiding the meeting took some key decisions. Current general secretary, Alberto Colaco was also present in the meeting.

The candidates, who have been picked out, would be called for an interview and be screened by a four member team of Subrata Dutta, Ankur Dutta, A.R.Khaleel and Hardev Jadeja possibly in mid-August.

Savio Messias, who looked as the unanimous choice of the Emergency Committee for the post of the general secretary, faced strong opposition when Alberto Colaco went at length to speak against the candidate from his home state, which didn’t go well with the rest of the members attending the meeting.

It was also learnt that Colaco tried to push for certain names including that of Subodh Bhatnagar. Rakesh Bakshi, who was being supported throughout by Venod Sharma, also made it into the sought-after list of names.

The other members included are Shaji Prabhakaran and Gautam Kar. Certain sources also claimed that two unknown members also made it into the list but their names couldn’t be confirmed.

Amongst those being left out were Bose, former Olympian Hakeem and Sukhvinder Singh. No foreigner made it into the list of probable general secretaries.

Meanwhile, the Indian contingent for the post of I-League CEO included Anil Kamat, Gautam Kar and Harish Rao.

It is also learnt that the list shall be submitted to Praful Patel this morning.
