Ajayan Named Mahindra United Captain
Krishnan Ajayan Nair was delighted at being named the skipper of Mahindra United for the second successive year...
“I am very pleased to have been informed that I shall be the captain again. This means added responsibility and I hope that I can meet the expectations,” said Ajayan.
Last season wasn’t a very good one for the Mahindra skipper as he was in and out of the side several times due to illness or injury.
“Ever since the national camp last year before the SAFF Cup, I have been marred with something or the other. First, it was chickengunya.
“Then, I had an ankle injury because of which I missed the early part of the I-League. Before the Federation Cup, I was down with chickenpox. In 2009, again another injury and towards the end of the season, I fractured my hand. It’s been very frustrating.”
Ajayan has missed out on the last two national camps, and gives the reasons for the same.
“In the last two years, in each camp I have never been 100% fit. It’s my bad luck that I was always unfit during the camps. This time, I want to do well.”
Meanwhile, Ajayan is also soon to get hitched to his long time girlfriend in September.
“The date is September 6th. It’s a nine year long love story,” added Ajayan.
