Subhash Unsure Of Joining National Squad

Former Air India striker Subhash Singh has sent his passport to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) last evening but there’s nothing confirmed as yet as to whether he is to join the national squad, who are touring Dubai and shall soon be in Barcelona for a month.

The youngster’s absence from the national set-up drew criticism from various circles as he was one of the best players to have come through at the end of the I-League. The Manipuri scored seven goals and was the focal point of the Airmen’s attack.

Recently, in an interview coach Bob Houghton had stated that he could be part of the national squad, if some of his other strikers got injured, and if Subhash can replicate the form he showed for another season.

According to AIFF sources, nothing has been official as to whether the player has been summoned to the camp or not. While Subhash Singh claimed that he too wasn’t intimated about the same.

“They (AIFF) called and asked for the passport which I sent this (Friday) evening. They didn’t say whether they want me to go to Dubai or Spain.

“However, someone from the Manipur football association told that they were informed that there is a possibility of me joining the Indian team,” said the East Bengal player.
