The Dempo skipper was asked to miss the flight on June 26 as
he wasn’t in the best of health ever since reaching the Indian capital.
Speaking to Goal.com, Climax Lawrence said, “I have recovered from the illness. I shall train in Dubai for two days and thereby, move on to Barcelona for the month long camp where we shall play a few friendlies as well.
“I am raring to join them and have begun my fitness programme by hitting the gym for the last three days.”
Indian national team coach Bob Houghton wasn’t pleased with the fact that Climax was asked to participate in the Santosh Trophy after having had a long season.
“Professionals playing Santosh Trophy against a bunch of amateurs at the end of the season don’t make any sense. Do you believe Steven Gerrard will play for some hotchpotch trophy at the end of the season?” Houghton was quoted saying.
In response to this, Climax said,” He (Houghton) is right in what he said but as a player, I have achieved everything because of football. The game has given me everything I ever wanted. I just can’t say no to football.”
