Durand Cup To Commence From September 2nd
The annual Durand Cup tournament shall commence from September 2nd onwards and the finals are likely to be played on the 20th of the month, according to the organisers.
Speaking to Goal.com, Major S.S.Mann said, “The qualifying rounds shall start from September 2nd, while the main tournament, as in the quarterfinal league shall begin from the 10th. The finals will be on September 20th.”
The organisers have written to several clubs across the nation to send in their details and confirm their participation in the tournament.
For those unaware, Durand Cup is one of the oldest tournaments and, is also considered the third oldest in the world, after the English and Scottish FA Cups.
Mahindra United are the title holders after they beat Churchill Brothers 3-2 thanks to an extra time strike by Thoi Singh.
