Speaking to Goal.com, Mukul Choudhari, Business Development and Marketing Head of Mumbai FC, said, “Khalid has been named as the coach of Mumbai FC for the 2009-10 season. We decided to go ahead with him after his good work with the junior team.”

Mumbai FC had the vision to come up with their own talent from the youth ranks and the first batch to do so would be in the upcoming season.

“Three players have graduated and would be included in the senior squad. John Coutinho, Nihal Chandran and Salil Usman have shown good potential and have rewarded for the same.”

Meanwhile, the club has added three new faces to the squad in the form of Goutam Debnath, Hiralal Chhetri and Pravin Rawat. Debnath, a central defender, was loaned out to Chirag United last season by Mahindra United. Rawat was at Pune FC last season while Chhetri is a Tata Football Academy (TFA) product, according to Mukul Choudhary.
