Mohun Bagan Have Hurt Me - Bhaichung Bhutia
Bhaichung Bhutia is deeply hurt with the treatment meted by Mohun Bagan after they questioned his commitment and level of professionalism last week. The Indian skipper announced at a press meet this evening that he intends to part ways with the Green and Maroons.
Speaking to Goal.com this evening, Bhaichung said, “I told Mohun Bagan officials this morning that I have no desire to play for Mohun Bagan anymore. I won’t be inspired to play for the club.”
What hurt Bhaichung the most was the way things were handled by Mohun Bagan. Earlier, Goal.com had stated that the club could have managed the issue in a better way and it was merely an ego issue for some of the officials.
“Things could have been managed in a better way. They could have just picked the phone and spoken to me. That’s how things management works. They went for the letter instead and distributed it in the media.
“It just shows how poorly things get managed here.”
The Tinkitam Express’ commitment was put to question and the star striker believes that after serving Indian football for so long, he doesn’t have to answer anyone, let alone Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra.
“I didn’t want to answer anyone about my commitment. I don’t want anyone to gain from my reputation. Get some good publicity on my name,” said Bhaichung referring to the exhibition game at Jaipaiguri.
The Mariners had mentioned that Bhaichung’s performance had dipped and Indian icon believes that his on-field display speaks for itself.
“After I joined the show, the first game we played was against Chirag and I scored two goals. We won against Dempo and even the Super Cup. In the two AFC Cup games which we lost, the coaches of those clubs stated that the best player from Mohun Bagan was Bhaichung Bhutia.
“Where was Anjan Mitra then?”
As for his future plans, Bhaichung kept mum and didn’t want to disclose anything.
“I don’t want to disclose anything as yet. I told Mohun Bagan to release me and that we part keeping good relations despite a year being left in my contract. I don’t understand why they want to keep me after all this?”
At the end of it, Mohun Bagan’s unthought-of actions have hurt the Indian skipper and he has no heart to don the Green and Maroon jersey again.
“I am hurt by this and have no heart to play for Mohun Bagan again.”
