Snehashish, Arup To Play For East Bengal

The supposed drama surrounding Snehashish Chakraborty seems to have come to an end with East Bengal claiming that the Indian Football Association (IFA), the state football authority for the state of West Bengal, has informed the player to don the colours of Red and Gold for the upcoming season.

Snehashish has publicly claimed that he wants to join Mohun Bagan but is contracted with their arch rivals East Bengal. Having had a successful season with Chirag United where he spent a year on loan, the left winger is a prized asset in Indian football and obviously, the club owning his signature shall refuse to let him go elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Arup Debnath is said to have reportedly penned a deal with Pune FC while still under a contract with East Bengal. The custodian had an excellent season under the bars at Air India where he was loaned out to. Amongst his suitors where some of the big clubs in Indian football but it is believed that the player has decided to join Pune FC.

“If he has indeed signed then, he has made the biggest mistake and would ruin his career. Arup is contracted with East Bengal. He was released to Air India at the behest of Bimal Ghosh for a year. He is very much an East Bengal player,” said Subhash Bhowmick.
