to Goal.com, Gawli said, “I am extremely pleased for being considered for
Arjuna Award. It’s an honour and if God wants then surely I shall win.”
The Dempo defender is nominated alongwith Deepak Mondal, Renedy Singh and Climax Lawrence. Arjuna Award is given by the Government of India to those who have excelled for the nation.
Gawli expressed satisfaction on the just concluded Portuguese tour and added that such tours are very helpful in the team’s preparations ahead of a major tournament.
“We played against good oppositions and did well. This gives confidence and inculcates a winning habit in the team which is so essential before a major championship.”

“Indian football was well represented by Bhaichung amongst the world stars. The Indian team is proud of him.”
