KAKA Club: Inter / Real MadridCountry: BrazilAge: 27 (DOB April 22 1982) Position: Midfielder Previous Placings: 1st (2007) |
Until team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo joined him at Real Madrid, Kaka had been the most expensive player in the world, as Los Merengues had paid €67 million for the superstar Brazilian this summer.
The 2007 Ballon d’or winner played a significant role in helping Milan secure Europe’s most prestigious club prize, the Champions League that year. But the 27-year-old’s only piece of silverware this year came from the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa.
Having had what many consider a slow start to the season for Real Madrid, Kaka has scored three goals, but was also involved in his team’s shock exit from the Copa Del Rey, losing to Alcorcon 4-1 on aggregate.
Attributes
- Former Ballon d’Or winner
- Claimed the 2009 Confederations Cup with Brazil, but also won the Confederations Cup Golden Ball and was named in the Confederations Cup First XI
- Was the most expensive player in the world for a brief period of time
- Has had a modest start to the season for new club

They Say...
“Let’s call a spade a spade - this Kaka of Real Madrid is not the same Kaka we used to know,” Milan’s Gennaro Gattuso on former team-mate, as reported in the Corriere della Sera.
"To be elected again as the world's best, I have to win collective titles. I think I have the possibility of achieving that with Real Madrid and with the Selecao," the 27-year-old was quoted as saying by AS.
Prediction
Generally, Kaka has finished in the first three for the past few seasons, but may face stiffer competition this season from Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi, as well as CR. Top five position could be realistic, but do not be shocked if the Brazilian slides down from his usual high pedestal.
